Do you ever take a moment to…

Finishing Legion, for many, can mean tying up loose ends, working towards being “done”. So this post is a reminder, because…

Do you ever take a moment to…

…embrace your inner geek so much, that you actually log on so early, even before the sun rises, just to do that one World Quest for that one mount for that one PvP Achievement you need? (Get lost, Darkbrul Arena spawn times)

Fun14

…notice all the ridiculously fun references and dialogues?

Fun16

…appreciate the strong lore characters and story told in Legion?

Fun15

…chuckle at all the humor some of the quests have?

Fun13

…take in the level of atmosphere, that sometimes is so heartwarming, that it makes you sit down for a while, before you continue with the quest you were doing?

Fun12

…find out, just exactly what happens if you use Orb of the Sin’dorei first.

Then Narcicca’s Mirror.

Then Magical Pet Biscuit.

Then Red Wooden Sled?

Apparently, once your “pet” is on the sled, it no longer has interest in you, and any member can just drag it away from you! (Which explains Alunaria’s tears in this screenshot)

Fun1

…notice the very first hint of a couple in World of Warcraft, who is of the same gender?

Fun5

…to make sure to go back to older continents and assist the fallen heroes of the past?

Fun6

…to be included in an important piece of lore?

Fun7

…to think about just how much time an artist designer spent on getting whatever is in front of you perfect?

Fun11

…explore the older dungeons, and every corner, because chances are, you have missed something as your group was rushing through it all.

Fun10

…Enjoy the scenery, as you do your archaeology, turning it from a chore into an adventure; a chance to relax, knowing how far you have come.

Fun17.jpg

…to take a screenshot, just because a beloved blogger loves the nasty creature you pass by?

Enjoy your week and time spend in WoW and the real world, and take good care of each other 🙂

    1. I’m the same way – it’s why it takes me so long to level, or really, get anything done in game. I keep stopping in awe 🙂 I’m so glad to know that I’m not the only one being captivated by this game all these years later.

      1. Just remembered one of these moments. Instead of leveling, I spent at least an hour in Draenor, admiring the barracks buildings from inside. There was so much detail put in it. You actually see how the soldiers live there: they have a dinner table, they have mugs, spare shoes, they have even books on their bunk beds! It is insane how you walk in and see how npcs live there. Yes, probably one of my most favorite things is exploring the houses 🙂

      2. Oh, I did the same thing not long ago! (late to the party, but hey). There were so many details, even on floors one is not sent to for a quest; I bet many are missing out of all of it. 🙂

  1. So wonderful screenshots. “Screenshot” is trivial, they are really photographs of a world and happenings and situations!
As for that first image, I guess it is getting 20 done of those four free-for-all?
Warlock, mage, and paladin (I think) have a class hall ability to do a non-elite WQ on the map every 18 hours just by activating something. The quest has to be up obviously, but at least one does not have to park the char at the place. And they can be done on alts. Well, all 20 has to be done on same char, I think.
Bonus: if one hates free-for-all, then those wq can still be done. Not that there is always pvp, quite often it is enough to kill npcs.

    1. Thank you 🙂 Yes, exactly, it’s that one. It’s up until 9 AM in the morning and after 9 PM in the evening ._. Times I am never online. Thank you for the tips 🙂 ♥

    1. Oh yes that! Me too 🙂 I really cherished the Isle of Thunder, coming across a specific kind of music there. On the road right now so can’t link. Do you have your music volume higher than the rest of the sounds, or?

      1. I completely agree. Fly was so cool when it first became a goal to achieve and since it has been an invaluable tool for farming and just getting somewhere fast. In that though we have given up much of that connection to the game world that drew many of us to it in the first place. I am really glad Blizzard has made the design choice to keep us grounded, at least for a little while, in the start of new expansions. 🙂

  2. Really nice article! Sadly my first playthrough of any expansion always feels a rush as I want to be there to experience things with friends who may be more ‘end game’ oriented than I am so I don’t think I often get that same moment of awe as I did when I started playing WoW and first arrived at Iron Forge with that amazing entrance and music! When I switch to my first alt I notice many of the things I missed first play through and get a chance to admire them properly.

This article and the response it has evoked has me thinking deeply. I put so much effort into returning my characters to the faction I have missed for years! Maybe, in BfA, it is time I slow things down and try to recapture some of that grand new adventure and exploration feeling from my early days in this brilliant game/world. ❤

    1. Thank you, I am glad you liked it, and to see you again 🙂

Aw, I hear you. It’s not easy to just slow down, when your friends are “up there” already.
Yes, the music in Ironforge is still something amazing to me; I can easily recall how I felt back then.

I plan to slow down in BfA 🙂 I hope I will manage. By the looks of it, if shapes up to be a great visual expansions, with lots to explore 🙂

  3. Yikes – almost two weeks and I haven’t checked in. Shame on me!

This is why I enjoy following your blog so much: when you notice so many little things that are wonderful about the game that most people typically miss. A common attitude I see is people quickly burning through new content, and then complaining/dropping the game as soon as there’s a lull. I really appreciate it when people slow down and appreciate all the immaculate details. This game is truly a passion project. You can really feel it when you watch BlizzCon videos. The only reason they’ve bothered to keep it going so long is the intense love/community around the game. So good!

I recognized a few of these scenes, but most of them were new to me. 😀 Something I’ve noticed recently is how easy it is to miss the combat animations, especially if you’re busy looking at action bars or health bars. Those probably take so much work. I almost wish there was a free-camera spectator mode where you could spectate other peoples’ dungeon/raid runs. That would be so cool for videos! I guess you could designate one person to be the camera guy.

Looking forward to BfA! I’m still excited as ever to play this game. (I’m such a nerd :P) I was trying out some other competitive games recently like Heroes of the Storm, Starcraft 2, and Counterstrike-GO, but I eventually decided to commit to WoW for good, at least through the BfA launch and the Uldir raid. It’s just so much fun! Until next time. *waves*

    1. Aww, not to worry, Zeshio. Good to see you again though! I am not gaming much these days either, so 🙂

Thank you for your sweet and encouraging words as always. All good things come to those that wait 😉

Yes. If it’s possible, I want to slow down even more when I am questing through BfA 🙂 I really look forward to it as well. One thing I miss though is not being able to visit youtube or Twitter these days. Spoilers everywhere 😦 What have you been up to? 🙂

Combat animations are the best to screenshot! I once did a portrait session with a male Worgen, actually, and a part of the dance animation looks as if he was catching a ball. Was hilarious 😀

I want that too! Spectator mode! Thought I was the only one. Great idea 🙂

Whaaaat, Uldir, what what? Exciting times!
Being a nerd is the best. We are in this together, right 😀

Until next time for sure, I hope it won’t be long “paw waves back”

  4. ♦ Sometimes I feel guilty for questing too quickly, but if I slow down too much and meticulously log every detail then it can hinder how much fun I’m having. It’s the best when you can find a balance between the two. I find your blog does that really well. When I was trying my blog I went a little overboard on logging every tiny little thing I saw.
♦ I’ve got big plans for that Uldir raid. I’ve got 3 pairs of toons that I’m planning to use in BfA, all using either new classes or new specs from everything I did in Legion. This way everything’s going to be completely fresh! It’s gonna be so much fun. 🙂 I’m going to focus on one pair of toons at a time, and switch between pairs if they start getting stale. Eventually I hope to hit mythic raiding with at least one pair if I have enough time and real life doesn’t get in the way. 😛
♦ I haven’t been active on twitter at all lately. It’s always something I’d like to do, but it’s never clicked for me. I get intimidated by feeling obligated to keep up with everyone I’m following, and it can be difficult to think of interesting things to tweet on a regular basis. I really should network with more WoW communities in and out of the game, but it’s difficult to get motivated to do so.
♦ My main’s going to be a worgen male warrior. Those combat animations are so cool, and warrior has really grown on me as I’ve been lvling him. I used to think less of warriors since they don’t use magic, but they’re really cool if you give them a chance. I’ll definitely still lvl my druid, but I’m going to wait a bit this time and try the feral spec instead.
♦ Looking forward to your next post, see you around!

    1. Ah yes, I can relate. It can be tricky to find a balance, I wholeheartedly agree.

It’s like in school, when the teacher asks for a, is the English word “summary”. Which details to include and which to exclude – it’s not always easy.

It sounds as if you are all set for BfA 🙂 It sounds good, mixing it up between classes; no risk of burnout then.

Nah, I can understand what you mean for sure. I guess that is why many social medias do not speak to me – I also find it a tad impersonal – the fast likes and moving on to the next, never really dwelling (in the healhty way of the word) to what the person behind the screen wanted to say. That is why I cherish the blogging community. But I hear you; even in that community, staying active matters. I just wait for inspiration to carry me. Sometimes it’s there, other times not so much 🙂

I think it’s natural for there to be less inspiration at this point of the game, where we are looking more towards the future.

Neat! Such a shame we cannot group up, I’d love to throw a few HoTs your way 🙂 I can’t wait to see the Worgen model updates, if they are coming in BfA.

Aw, thanks a lot for saying. See you, Zeshio, good to hear from you 🙂
